Filling in the blanks ...

Well, my MOTH has been and gone again. He is currently residing some three and a half hours south of here where he is contracted to commission cameras for yet another new prison.

He went out and bought himself a new (for him) car last week, a rather nice V6 Mitsubishi Diamante with all the bells and whistles (although, strangely enough, even though I discovered secret compartments that opened at the press of a finger and electrically adjustable seats, I found neither a bell, nor a whistle ... guess I was looking in the wrong place).

This marvel of modern motoring machinery (how's that for alliteration ?!?!?) means that he will travel home to us every Friday afternoon, and back down every Sunday night, so we're really only managing without him for five sleeps a week. And after the last couple of months, we can do that with our eyes closed (sorry, I just couldn't help myself) ...

And it's only for six weeks. Due to the fact that I have landed a real life permanent job the bank are now more than happy to let us dive headlong into debt, and our business will be up and running mid-way through June after we return refreshed and revitalised from Rarotonga (again with the alliteration, I just can't stop !!!) ...

I still have another two weeks to run on my temp assignment, after which I will be starting work not as a PA as I had intended, but as Office Manager at the college right next door to where my two rugrats go to school. Not only are the hours absolutely perfect, but I have school holidays off (and after having written a cheque for $300+ for a holiday programme for this week, I am extremely grateful for that fact !!!!). And I am being given the fantastic opportunity to actually manage people, due to the fact I have four office staff reporting directly to me. Four isn't a lot, but it's a hell of a lot more than I have ever had before. Wish me luck ...

As for the rugrats ... the Nationals are over and due to some extremely tough competition and a huge field in his age group, K was unable to either defend or better his NZ33 placing. He finished up 43 out of 54, but more to the point he tried his absolute hardest, which is more than can be said for the remainder of his racing to date this season. He has two more years until his "Mighty 11s" trial, and so training for that starts as soon as the MOTH returns for good ...

S turned eight over the weekend (thankfully ... the child has been counting down since February !!!) and was most thrilled with a pink mp3 player, Bratz dolls and pink pearl earrings. As it's midway through the school holidays there has been no party as yet, but her father has promised her one as soon as school goes back ...

Jake is still adorable, if not entirely house trained. We've moved his kitty litter outside, and although we haven't had any major disasters, I'm not entirely sure how to break him of the habit of peeing in the shower !!! Maybe I could teach him to use the toilet ?!?!?

Oh yeah ... and although he'll deny it, when he thought I wasn't looking I caught the MOTH giving Jake a cuddle and scratching his tummy ...

Note to self ...

Always check your email before embarking on any long journeys.

Especially long journeys for the purposes of racing BMX bikes.

Especially when it has been raining heavily for days and days and days.

And the track might be closed.

And the BMX meeting might be cancelled.

And you might not find out about it until you show up at 9.00am on a Sunday morning three hours from home to find you are the only person who didn't read their email.
