So there !

So we're all watching a DVD after dinner, because in light of our new more responsible attitude to parenting we aren't allowing the rugrats to watch TV any more (basically cos there isn't actually anything on it that we deem suitable) ...

I disappear out of the room for a few minutes to hang a load of laundry and make dessert and come back in to the sight of two rugrats busily filling in their new Finding Nemo colouring books.

Me : "You don't get to watch TV much any more ... I would have thought you would be watching the movie"
S : (head down, busily finding just the right shade of purple) "We're doing both"
K : (in a tone of total exasperation) "Yeah Mum, we're multi tasking"

Oh.

I have to ask though...WHERE exactly are you hanging out the laundry AFTER dinner, and in the WEATHER you've got happening down there?? Is your home looking like a chinese laundry at the moment? lol

it drives every partner ive ever had NUTS that I can read a book AND watch the damn telly at the same time but I cant follow their boring idiot friends inane birdlike chattering on 7 different topics at once. MAYBE if they talked about something INTERESTING instead of whether princess mary is pregnant again (who cares? him n her LEAVE THEM ALONE) etc.

theres multitasking n theres multitasking I suppose.

That's hilarious. Leave it to kids to come up with multitasking as an answer.

Lisa - our house ALWAYS looks like a Chinese laundry ... I can't remember the last time it was warm enough or sunny enough to hang laundry outside. Due to the fact we live on the wrong side of a hill we're lucky if we get sun for about fifteen minutes at around 12.30pm ... so everything is done on drying racks and over the coal range (did I mention I LOVE my coal range ?!?!?!?!?)
