K : "Mummy, why do you have a bruise on your neck ?"

Me (with a withering look at the MOTH who is suddenly extremely engrossed in his coffee and toast) : "Daddy bit me"

K (with a horrified look at his father) : "Why did you do that ?!?!?!?!"

MOTH (the picture of wide eyed innocence) : "Would I do that to your mother ? She was practicing on her new bike yesterday and she's so bad at it that she fell off and bumped herself on the handlebars"

K : "Oh, OK"
