Rugrat Update ...

K sat through a club night at BMX last night.

He was too cold.
He was too hot.
Did he enjoy it ?
No ... he did not !!!

And did he learn ?
I do not know.
The grumpy tempered
So-and-so.

The MOTH and I have a dilemma, however. There are only four weeks until Christmas. Which means, therefore, that there are only five weeks until the New Year. And, continuing with the theme, that means, therefore, that there are only six weeks until the South Island champs in Rangiora.

And sitting on the sidelines for two weeks really isn't going to help his chances any.

So, as the MOTH asked last night ... do we cave and let him race next week ?

I know if he was a convicted criminal he'd get time off for good behaviour ... do the same rules apply to a stubborn eight year old ?

Under the circumstances, maybe it's best not to have him out of commission at the moment. Maybe club night sit-out was enough of an impact. It would have certainly given him plenty to think about I reckon. and let's face it, he's a smart cookie.

I think two weeks is a long time for an 8 year old to be honest. Remember what it's like when you're that young? Time seem to take FOREVER to pass. Is there anything else you can take away for the remainder of the two weeks you stated instead of his training/club night?

Maybe take the Dunedin Open away? It might make him work harder towards the South Island champs?
Just my two cents.

The MOTH is going to take the video recorder to the track next time we go. There's a limit to how many times we can scream "pedal, pedal, pedal" from the sidelines ... but perhaps if he can SEE himself NOT pedalling, then it may make a difference.

Had a friend around tonight for a chat ... two weeks IS an awful long time when you're 8 ... so he'll miss this weekend and can race again next week. He doesn't need to know that quite yet though ...

"He doesn't need to know that quite yet though.." lol I love that.

Just be careful you don't fall into the trap that I end up doing. With all the playing up Ryan can do...I'll ground him...and eventually he'll ask me when he's ungrounded (because half the time I'm so upset/angry I leave the time frame hanging in the air).

Sometimes I forget I've grounded him. But he doesn't. He NEVER forgets. Mind you, I think I've only done it about 3 times in his entire life.

I think it's more effective than what my ex used to yell..."If you do that again or you don't stop doing that..I'm going to rip off your head and spit down your throat!" Yeah right, like that's going to happen lol

(One time I refused to let him have any time to himself...I mean, if I went anywhere, he had to come, regardless of where it was. It aint much fun for a 14 yr old to be following his mummy around and visiting her friends for coffee lol)

Is the MOTH what you call your husband? LOL- Very clever. Is there a post I shoud read in here about the origin of that name?(I call mine Mr. Escape Artist.) I'm an artist and he travels a lot for work or just escapes when chores need to be done!

Hi again. Yep, MOTH = Man Of The House :)

It was either that or He Who Must Be Obeyed ... and HWMBO didn't have quite the same ring to it. Oh yeah ... and I couldn't type it without laughing !!!
