All growed up ...
K arrived home from his Gran and Pop's this afternoon. All by himself. On a bus.
I'm not entirely sure why it is, but I had absolutely no qualms about putting him on a ferry and sending him off unaccompanied to stay with his cousin for a week over the summer holidays.
So why is it that I was so unsure about allowing my folks to put him on a bus in Oamaru that was not stopping until it arrived in Dunedin ? It's not like he was going to fall off and drown or anything ...
Bizarrely ... K sounds a lot younger and more immature on the phone than he does in real life (and yes, I am aware he is only seven) ...
S is just the opposite ... she sounds so composed and sure of herself on the phone and is such a ditz in person ... so much so that my parents now no longer refer to temporary lapses of intelligence and common sense as "blonde moments" (in honour of my mother) ... but as "having a pink day" (in honour of the junior rugrat) ...

After my boys voices 'broke' my parents often asked me if I had a man in the house because of one of the kids answering the phone. The boys just about burst with pride over that lol.
I used to stick them on a plane and send them down to their grandparents in Nelson when they were younger. Always freaked me out.
heh thats funny ya parents being suss at you all the time!!
I dont have kids so ive avoided the stress so far.
